Care and Cleaning Recommendations

Each pair of PATINO shoes is made of fine natural leather from the most prestigious French tanneries.
For these shoes to keep their natural beauty throughout the years, they need special care.

The golden rule: simple gests

1-Always use a shoehorn when putting on your shoes to avoid breaking the back support.
2-Work-in your shoes slowly to soften the leather.
3-Change your shoes daily to let them breathe and dry (1 day wear = 2 days off)
4-Use shoe-stretchers in your shoes to loosen the leather and avoid stress lines.
5-Clean your shoes at least once a week.
6-Dust your shoes before applying shoe cream.
7-If your shoes get wet, leave them to dry in a temperate environment in their shoe-stretchers away from direct heat to avoid cracking.
8-Never place a half-sole in a brand new sole. It is preferable to wait a few weeks

Leather Care

1-Remove laces and put shoes in their shoe-stretchers.
2-Dusting: Brush the shoe quickly with a shoe brush to remove dust and dirt.
3-Nourishing: Roll a soft cloth around your index finger and dab your finger in the nourishing cream. Work the cream into the leather using small circular movements applying extra pressure to creases and stress lines to smooth them out and make them disappear. Let dry for about twenty minutes.
a.In addition to the nourishing cream it is advisable to use a polish from time to time (except for the hand made patina shoes – NEVER polish PATINO from the Iconic Collection)
b.Shine shoes, which have a waterproof coating to revive the color of the leather. The polish should be applied in the same manner as the nourishing cream but in smaller quantities. Do not forget the tongue of the shoe.
4- Shining: Use a polishing brush to shine the leather of your shoes.

Suede and Nubuck Care

1-Remove laces and put shoes in their shoe-stretchers.
2-Dusting: Brush the shoe energetically with a shoe brush to remove dust and dirt.
3-Dulling the suede: Brush vigorously using a natural crepe brush in both directions to revive the color and obtain a fresh new aspect.
4-Protect: Use a suede protector, which is to be sprayed 30 cm from the shoes. If possible use a waterproofing spray.
5-Brushing: After letting the shoes dry for about twenty minutes, brush again in both directions with a natural crepe brush.
